Officer hurt after NYPD helicopter makes emergency landing in Brooklyn
September 23rd, 2010 - 3:36 am ICT by BNO NewsNEW YORK CITY (BNO NEWS) — A police officer was slightly injured when a New York Police Department helicopter made an emergency landing in Brooklyn, officials said.
The incident happened around 3.46 p.m. EDT when the chopper made an emergency landing in the waters of Jamaica Bay, close to Floyd Bennett Field. Five police officers were on board the aircraft.
“Everyone has been safely removed from the aircraft and are being evaluated,” a spokesman for the New York City Fire Department said, adding that the incident happened about 50 feet offshore. A spokesman for the NYPD said one officer sustained minor injuries.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
