Obama to visit Indonesia, Australia in March
February 2nd, 2010 - 1:56 am ICT by BNO NewsWASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — President Barack Obama will visit Indonesia and Australia in March of this year, the White House said on Monday. It will be his first official trip to the region while president.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said, during the daily news conference, that Obama will formally launch a comprehensive partnership with Indonesia during the trip. He will also mark the 70th anniversary of U.S.-Australia relations, and will discuss Afghanistan and nuclear nonproliferation with Australia’s leaders.
Obama will also make a stop in the U.S. territory of Guam, where he will meet with U.S. military personnel on the island. The last U.S. President to visit Guam was Bill Clinton in 1998.
