May 10th, 2010 - 1:49 pm ICT by BNO NewsWASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — Solicitor General Elena Kagan will be President Barack Obama’s choice for the Supreme Court, MSNBC reported on Sunday night.
Kagan, 50, was long considered the frontrunner to replace retiring Justice John Paul Stevens.
Kagan is the youngest of the four people Obama is known to have interviewed and would be the youngest nominee by a Democratic president since 1962. If the Senate confirmed her, she would be the first non-judge to join the high court in 38 years.
According to ABC News, Obama will announce his nominee on Monday.
