North Korea sentences Boston man to 8 years of hard labor for border incursion
April 7th, 2010 - 2:35 pm ICT by BNO NewsPYONGYANG (BNO NEWS) — A Boston man in North Korea was sentenced to eight years of hard labor for alleged illegal border incursion and hostile acts, the official Korean Central News Agency reported on Wednesday.
Aijalon Mahli Gomes, 30, was arrested in March and was sentenced during a trial on Tuesday. The trial was attended by several officials of the Swedish embassy in Pyongyang, North Korea’s capital. Gomes allegedly confessed to the crimes, even though North Korea never specified the alleged hostile acts.
