North Dakota lake swallows land and buildings
September 24th, 2010 - 8:19 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattSep 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A North Dakota lake has managed to swallow land and buildings as well.
North Dakota lake is now been called as the slow-growing devil. The lake is referred as a monster. Over the last 20 years the lake has steadily expanded and swallowed dozens of buildings and acres of land. Due to its raising water levels the monster has swallowed two nearby towns as well.
According to ABC reports, the mouth of the monster is growing because it doesn’t have natural river or stream to carry of the excess water accumulated by rain and the melting snow. Now the threat is that if water level is not reduced then some downstream communities could be washed away. The water level is now at 6 feet raising fear for the communities.
Scientists believe that the problem of raising water level will continue at least for another decade and would worsen the situation.
Joe Belford, 72 year old, a lifelong resident of North Dakota Lake finds this lake as a slow-growing torture. He said that he spends most of his time seeking a way to control the flood and money for the loss caused by the monster lake.
