nobel1Stockholm, Sweden, Oct 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The name of the winner in the category of Literature in this year’s Nobel Prize has just been released and it has been declared to the Romanian born German writer Herta Mueller.

The winning of the coveted title of the Nobel Prize is going to fetch a overwhelming $1.4 million in cash [or 10 million kronor] for Mueller. Mueller will be entitled to lay her hands on the winning amount at the earliest by the 10th of December.

According to the statement that has been released by the Swedish Academy (which has annually been selecting the winner for the Nobel Prize ever since 1901) on Thursday, Muller’s work “with the concentration of poetry and the frankness of prose, depicts the landscape of the dispossessed.”

With her win this year, Mueller has become the 12th woman to have had a winning streak at the Nobel Prize, in all the long years since it has come in to existence. Despite its immense long run, there seems to exist a certain amount of drought like condition when it comes to women winning the titles at the Nobel Prize. However, Mueller’s landing a win this year surely sounds good like good news for the female section.

The 56 year old author had hit the world of literature in the year 1982, making her debut with a compilation of short stories that was titled “Niederungen”. The collection was immediately put under the censorship radar by the government in a then communist Romania. The uncensored version of the same however surfaced in Germany in the year 1984 and became an instant hit with the readers.
