balloon boy DENVER (BNO NEWS) — An experimental balloon believed to have been carrying a six-year-old landed near Brighton in Colorado on Thursday after it floated towards Denver for more than two hours.

The images, broadcasted by Denver television station KUSA, was watched by millions of people around the country and around the world as it was believed a young boy was stuck inside the flying saucer-like aircraft.

It was not immediately clear where the boy might be, but police scanner traffic indicated that officials believe he may have fallen from the balloon at one point. Authorities are conducting searches to find the boy.

The aircraft was build by an adult male, according to a spokeswoman for the Larimer County sheriff’s office, who said the boy jumped inside the basket before it took off. Authorities were considering a rescue operation until it touched down near Brighton.

Numerous agencies were involved as the balloon flew across the state at dangerous heights.
