KODIAK, ALASKA (BNO NEWS) — A small plane carrying three people crashed near Kodiak Airport in Alaska on Monday, officials said, but there were no fatalities.

State Department of Transportation and Public Facilities spokesman Roger Wetherell said the plane went down around 12.30 p.m. local time. “We are responding with fire and rescue teams,” Wetherell said.

The aircraft remained entangled in trees about two hours after the crash, which happened close to runway 25. Wetherell said rescue crews are not able to extract those on board until the plane has been stabilized.

Allen Kenitzer, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), said there were no fatalities. “All [three] are conscious,” Kenitzer said. He said the Britten-Norman BN2, which is capable of carrying up to 11 people, crashed under unknown circumstances.

Federal records showed the 1967-build plane was registered to Paklook Air, Inc. based in Kodiak.
