BALI, INDONESIA (BNO NEWS) — Police on Monday informed that no explosives were found in the suspicious package that sparked an alert in the Indonesian resort island of Bali.

According to the Jakarta Globe, Bali Police informed that the suspicious package was located outside Kerobokan prison, the second one found in Bali in recent days. A bomb squad was rushed to the scene.

The package was dismantled and swimming trunks, a book, a pair of sunglasses, a towel a copy of a passport belonging to Craig David McCledon were find inside it. Police opened an investigation to clarify the incident.

Plreliminary reports indicate that McCledon lsot his bag at the Kerobokan area on Sunday. At about 8:00 p.m. local time, he stopped at a convenience store but did not lock his car. McCledon claimed that a camera and his mobile phone were stolen too.

Indonesia is in high alert after five parcel bombs were located in different locations in the capital city Jakarta. In addition a number of false alerts have been reported nationwide.

On Saturday, a suspicious package was reported outside a hotel on Jalan Manik in Bali’s Gianyar district. Police found a wire cutter and rolls of wire inside but no explosive materials.

Last Thursday, a fourth explosive device hidden in a hollowed out book was sent to a residence in south Jakarta. The parcel bomb was delivered to the residence of music mogul Ahmad Dhani in Pondok Indah.

On Tuesday, a bomb parcel exploded in Utan Kayu, East Jakarta. The explosive device was sent to the local KBR 68H Radio News Agency and was addressed to the agency’s chief Gories Mere.

The explosive package was hidden inside a hollowed out book. A police officer attempted to defuse the parcel bomb but it exploded blowing off the policeman’s hand at his wrist.

Another explosive package was located at the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) office in Jakarta but a police bomb squad managed to deactivate it before it exploded. A third parcel bomb was sent to Ulil Abshar Abdalla, chairman of the Liberal Islam Network, in Utan Kayu.

The device exploded while a team of policemen was trying to defuse it; three police officers were severely injured. All four bombs were delivered in the same modus operandi.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Wednesday ordered the national police to conduct a thorough probe on the incidents. Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Sutarman said that he will personally overlook the progress of the investigation.
