NIU Shooting Leaves One Injured

Dekalb, Illinois, Feb 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Northern Illinois University was closed down for a brief period of time on Friday after it witnessed a shooting incident on early Friday morning. However, the university reopened later and all the classes were held according to schedule. One university student is said to have received injuries in the incident.
It has come to light that the shooting incident took place near the Stevenson Residence Hall around 4.30 in the morning. Preliminary investigation indicates that the incident might be an isolated case as it appears to have resulted due to a disagreement between two individuals. Shortly after the episode, the university authorities issued a message in which it intimated that students about the violent incident. Moreover, the police authorities have undertaken an extensive investigation to comprehend the circumstances that led to the shooting incident. Moreover, it has also been stated that the person who was responsible for carrying out the crime has been taken into custody.
Meanwhile, a Dekalb Fire Department Spokesperson has divulged that the student who was injured in the incident was immediately rushed to the Kishwaukee Community Hospital where preliminary treatment was administered to him. Following the incident, the university authorities have asked the students to be extremely careful and take precaution in the campus. At the same time, students have been requested to remain vigilant about any kind of circumstances. The shooting incident brought back memories of the shooting incident that took place in the university campus about on February 14, 2008 in which a gunman opened fired resulting in the death of five individuals with several others retaining injuries.
