Lagos, Dec 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Nigerian Senate has condemned the flight bombing attempt after a 23 year old Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to bomb a Northwest flight 253, which was flying from Amsterdam to Detroit. But it can certainly be termed as a Christmas miracle, because he wasn’t successful due to quick reflexes by the crew and the passengers, and also due to a faulty detonator. After this unsuccessful bombing attempt, concerns about airline safety are at an all time high and stricter restrictions are expected soon.
“We condemn this strange act of terrorism in very strong terms and we are at a loss where he got this strange habit from,” the country’s upper chamber said in a statement reaching here on Monday. “Nigeria abhors terrorism in all its ramifications, and the Senate therefore, frowns at this isolated and unfortunate incident,” the statement said.
The statement also asked the world not to generalize his behavior as all the other Nigerians are not as violent as him. They are law-abiding Nigerians who are decent and respectable international citizens wherever they are, according to the statement.
The Senate also asked the Nigerians to wake up from their slumber and rise in condemnation of this bombing attempt to which is going to disgrace the image of Nigeria, in the world.
Meanwhile the 23-year-old Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab who was charged with the Christmas Day attempt to bomb Northwest Flight 253 was placed on a U.K. watch list after he failed to get a student visa earlier this year, the British Home Office said.
