Newport News Public Schools & other institutions Closure

The closures have been particularly seen in the eastern coastal areas of Virginia. Newport News Public Schools will be holding classes as normal today, which came as a shock to many students and parents. Here’s a list of some other area school which are closed, from the Daily Press:
Cavalry Christian Academy - closed
Chesapeake Public Schools - closed
Denbigh Christian Academy - closed at 1 pm
Eastern Virginia Medical School - closed
Gloucester County Public Schools - closed
Hampton Public Schools - closed
Hampton Roads Academy - closed
Hampton University - delayed 2 hours
Isle of Wight Academy - closed
Isle of Wight Public Schools - closed
Matthews Public Schools - closed
Norfolk Public Schools - closed
Norfolk State University - closed
Old Dominion University - closed
Paul D. Camp Community College - closed
Peninsula Catholic school - closed
Poquoson City Schools - closed
St. Andrew Episcopal School - closed
Saint Leo University, Langley - closed
Suffolk public schools - closed
Surry Public Schools - closed
Thomas Nelson Community College - closed (Hampton and Williamsburg campuses)
Tidewater Community College - closed
Trinity Lutheran School, Newport News - closed
York Public Schools – closed
The other institutions that are closed are as follows.
There was a cancellation notice at ODU, which included its class at the Peninsula, Tri-Cities and Virginia Beach Higher Education Centers. All the campus offices will also be closed.
NSU canceled its evening classes on Wednesday with effect from 4 p.m. Essential personnel were expected to report to work at Virginia Wesleyan College.
Chesapeake Public Schools canceled classes and the various 12-month employees are to report on a two-hour delay.
Norfolk Public Schools are closed for students. Only the essential personnel should report for work.
Currituck County Schools and Bertie County Schools will be opening after a two-hour delay.
Gates County and Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Public Schools are completely closed.
Accomack County Public Schools, Poquoson City Public Schools and Northampton County Public Schools are closed on Thursday.
Hampton City Schools are closed and the various after-school activities are canceled.
Newport News Public Schools announced that the All City Track Meet has been rescheduled to Tuesday at 5 p.m. because of the bad weather.
Dare County, N.C schools are completely closed.
Even the Hampton University classes are canceled for today.
