HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT (BNO NEWS) – A man of Newington, Connecticut was sentenced on Tuesday to five years in a federal prison, followed by four years of supervised release, for conspiring to distribute cocaine to a Hartford trafficking ring, prosecutors announced.

Carlos Maldonado, aka “Gango”, 35, supplied cocaine to Wilberto Ruedas and they were intercepted on a wiretap of Huerta’s cellphone talking about kilogramprices of cocaine. On April 28, 2009, law agents seized two kilograms from a co-defendant that was about to encounter Maldonado.

This case is part of “Operation Solid Gold” leaded by the FBI’s North Connecticut Violent Crimes Task Force. During the year-long operation, 55 individuals were arrested including Maldonado and Huertas. For the fore mentioned operation the FBI agents used court-authorized wiretaps, controlled purchases of cocaine and heroin, and physical surveillance.
