New York police arrest man in Stone Ridge for stealing stone

STONE RIDGE, NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) — A senior citizen of Accord, New York was arrested in Stone Ridge on Sunday after he was seen stealing a blue stone, police said.

Nelson Degondea, 64, was arrested around 1.50 p.m. EST after deputies of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office observed him removing a blue stone from a property on Main Street. “Deputies located seven slabs of blue stone in the back of Degondea’s cargo van,” a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said. “The blue stone is part of the Town of Marbletown’s effort to replace a sidewalk on Main Street.”

Degondea has been charged with Petit Larceny, Criminal Posession of Stolen Property, and a class A misdemeanor Tresspass.
