new york fireworksOne of the major events of the United States of America is fourth of July where the the whole country indulges in the celebration of their Independence day. Among the major cities that attract a lot of crowd owing to its spectacular display of fireworks is New York. The fireworks lightened the dark skies beautifully which shot to a great height as far as 100 feet in the air. New york city’s celebration is significant due to the presence of the Hudson river over which the fireworks’ burst into lights looking absolutely breath taking.

This year the celebrations are a bit altered which includes the celebration moving back to the Manhattan’s West side that saw a spur in the sell of food items on the waterfront restaurants there.

Manhattan’s West side was the usual viewing spot before the September 11 attack. This has lead to the loss of the viewing spots of South Street Seaport and Brooklyn Waterfont. Many restaurants have been booked a month earlier for this day.

Starting at about 9.20pm in the evening, 22 tons of Pyrotechnics exploded in the sky stretching over an area of one ad a half mile over the Hudson river alongside which huge crowds had gathered.
The celebrations of the day began with the opening of the crown of the Statue of Liberty which was abstained from opening after the trade center attack. In 2004, the the base, pedestal and outdoor observation deck was opened for the public but the crown remained beyond reach.

With such an gala event it seems that the recession has not affected the New York fireworks celebrations this year.
