New York Experiences Extensive Snowfall

Feb 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Heavy snow and cold conditions would prevail in New York City and the winter storm is expected to continue. Information about the unfavorable weather conditions in the city was revealed by the United States Weather Service, which also reinforced the winter storm warning till early Saturday morning.
The National Weather service has revealed that the heavy snowfall that the city is likely to receive could be strong enough to disrupt normal life by bringing down trees as well as interrupting power lines. At the same time, it has also been stressed the snowfall can be so extensive that it can result in roof collapsing as certain parts of the New York are expected to receive about a foot of snow by Friday. Moreover, the weather service has also emphasized that strong wind would be moving in the southwest direction towards the New York City metropolitan area on Friday and heavy snow coupled with ice and intense wind is likely to make life extremely difficult of the residents, who have been warned against traveling as it is expected to get quite hazardous. The gravity of the situation can be analyzed from the fact that by Thursday evening, parts of New York witnessed as much as 22 to 30 inches of snow.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the extreme weather conditions that the city is experiencing more than 2000 flights have already been canceled. However, as the signs of any improvement in the weather conditions look quite bleak, more cancellations are likely to take place in the upcoming days until the weather perks up a bit.
