Feb 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It has to be admitted that Sir Richard Branson, the CEO of Virgin Airlines has some extraordinary ideas and also has the guts to experiment in untraded areas. As per the latest news, the billionaire airline owner has invented a plane that can take voyages inside the depths of the ocean. Incredible as it may sound, the Necker Nymph is not a commonplace marine vehicle. It is sort of a winged submarine. In the beginning, the rides will be restricted to shallow depths but the water plane will give the riders an unprecedented open cockpit experience. It has been learnt that the wonderful winged submarine has been developed by Hawkes Ocean Technologies.
It is quite natural that such technological marvels come at a steep price and the nymph is no exception. Its cost is a whopping $660,000. It is driven by a joystick. The CEO of Virgin Airlines has more ambitious and exciting plans for ocean rides. Later he wants to develop a submarine that can take the riders to the depths of ocean where normal submarines cannot go due to water pressure. It would be another costly proposition but considering the way technology is advancing it should not remain a far fetched dream for him.
The nymph is not much speedy and it can travel up to 5 nautical miles an hour. It will take the riders to the Necker Island, owned by Sir Richard Branson. However, people with deep pockets can afford a ride in this nymph for sure. This is a true marvel of technology.
