NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA (BNO NEWS) – A New Orleans man was arrested last Wednesday for committing health care fraud, U.S. Attorney Jim Letten announced on Thursday.

Lionel Perkins Jr., 58, was arrested for his responsibility in a criminal complaint issued following a series of health care frauds involving Medicaid. Since 2009, Perkins has been using the identity of his deceased brother to obtain Medicaid benefits.

Goods, services and care were received by Mr. Perkins under the false identity. He even called a Medicaid Center in order to receive benefits while pretending to be his late brother.

If he is found guilty he could face a maximum penalty of ten years in prison.
