Nevaeh Buchanan Body Found A child’s body found in River Raisin in southeast Michigan is likely that of Neveah Buchanan, a five-year-old who went missing almost two weeks ago.

A fisherman in Monroe, just 35 miles (56km) outside of Detroit, Mi., found the body earlier today and alerted local police who attended with the FBIs Forensic Evidence Recovery Team.

A source close to the investigation said the decomposed body of a child was discovered under cement about seven miles (11km) from Nevaeh’s home where she was last seen on May 24 in the parking lot of her apartment complex.

The FBI team and local police recovered the body and transported it to the Wayne County Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Naveah Buchanan’s grandmother, who had legal custody of her, confirmed that the girl’s clothing matched what Neveah was wearing when she disappeared.

Investigators are still waiting for DNA results from the lab to confirm if the body is Neveah or not.

Though the cause of death has not yet been determined, authorities suspect it may have been a murder.

George Kennedy, a convicted sex offender, and Roy Smith are both being held in relation to Neveah’s disappearance.
