nero Rome, Mar 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A portion of the ceiling of Nero’s palace has collapsed. After the collapse, there have been a lot of concerns about the sturdiness and the stability of the palace. The portion, which collapsed, was a part of the Domus Aurea (House of Gold) complex, and it was around 60 square meters in area. The only good part was that, no one was injured when the roof collapsed. Art official Antonello Vodret confirmed that the collapse of the ceiling was one of the biggest collapses at the palace in the last half century. Art officials think that heavy rain is responsible for the collapse. “Think 2,000 years of history, think of all the rain of the past couple of months,” said Umberto Broccoli.

Palace officials revealed that the portion gave away at around 10 am local time on Tuesday. The area, which experienced the mishap – Domus Aurea was already under the much needed restoration process, when heavy rain played spoilsport, and the ceiling gave way. The Domus Aurea is the favorite spot of the tourists, so if it hadn’t been closed for restoration, then there could have been some causalities too.
