Nelson Mandela’s Great-Granddaughter Killed In Car Crash

Johannesburg, June 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) As the celebrations to commemorate the first football World Cup of South Africa was reaching its pinnacle, the news of the tragic death of Nelson Mandela’s 13-year-old great-granddaughter has come as a rude shock to the nation.
The young girl was killed after the vehicle that she was traveling by getting involved in an accident on Friday. As per the reports that have been available till now, the car crashed as the person who was behind the wheels was in an inebriated condition resulting in the tragic death of the teenager on the spot.
It has come to light that the accident took place when Nelson Mandela’s great-granddaughter Zenani Mandela was on her way back home after attending a World Cup concert that was held in Soweto.
Edna Mamonyane, a spokesperson of the police authorities investigating the case has revealed that following the car crash the driver of the vehicle had been taken into custody and homicide charges have been levied against him. Owning to the tragedy, Nelson Mandela, who was reportedly scheduled to appear in the opening ceremony of the Football World Cup, chose not to make the appearance.
In the meanwhile, a number of reports have emerged claiming that a relative of the Mandela family was driving the vehicle which was involved in the accident which claimed the life of the 13-year-old.
The news that a Mandela family member was behind the wheels of the car has also been validated by a spokesperson of the Nelson Mandela Foundation although information about his name and his relation with Zerani Mandela has been withheld.
