National Guard joins search for Lisa Irwin
October 17th, 2011 - 7:38 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington, Oct 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The US National Guard has joined in the search for missing toddler Lisa Irwin. Police officers have been searching for the 11-month-old infant since she went missing at the family house but on Sunday, about 25 Missouri National Guards joined in the search effort.
They combed the area near the family house. Henry Schmidt from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children led the search team. The search team stayed closely together and covered large area in the bid to settle the puzzle surrounding the missing child.
The FBI and other law enforcement agencies have invested large resources and time to locate the child since she went missing on the 4th of October. The search team announced that they covered about a square mile in the search on Sunday. The area has previously been searched.
Officials have decided not to make public the results of the search they conducted on Sunday. The search started at 8 in the morning and ended 3:45 in the afternoon.
Buckner Police Chief Mike Cook who volunteered to be part of the search team later told reporters that, “We know everybody’s been logging lots of hours,” Cook said. “If we can help out, we’ll do that.”
