Simi Valley, Calif., Aug 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former US First Lady Nancy Reagan slipped and fell when she was being escorted to her seat during an event at Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, in Simi Valley, Calif.

The 90-year-old who looked frail was being escorted to her seat by Florida Senator Marco Rubio. The Tea Party darling reached and grabbed Nancy as she lost her footing. The audience who were on their feet as Nancy made her entry to the library gave a moment of hush as she slipped.

Leaning heavily on her walking stick, Nancy was held on the other side by Rubio. An aide later told CNN that Nancy was not hurt in the incident.

Nancy is the wife of former President Ronald Reagan. Between 1981 and 1989, Reagan served as the president of the United States and he was considered the architect of modern U.S. conservatism. Nancy became a widow in 2004 when Reagan died at the age of 93 years.

During his speech at the event in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Rubio shot down rumors that he was interested in running for the vice presidential position in 2012.

He told the crowd that, “I have no interest in serving as vice president for anyone who could possibly live all eight years of the presidency.”
