San Jose, Nov. 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Two teenagers have been charged as adults for stabbing to death a classmate in San Jose. Both of them might be sentenced to a life of imprisonment, a verdict that is not usually awarded to minors. Randy Thompson and Jae Williams, the murderers, are aged 15 and 16 respectively, while the victim, Michael Russell, was 15 years old. The two committed the murder on the Nov. 10. The three boys were students of the St. Teresa High School. Other students of the school reported that they were friends and were often spotted hanging out together after school hours. Michael also featured on Williams’ MySpace page.
Michael was stabbed to death outside his home while his mother was out, running errands. The boys have appeared in court already but the murder trial will begin on December 2. Their friends are shocked at the incident. Moreover, the police have uncovered some rather unnerving posts on the MySpace page of Williams that might well tag him as a Satanist.
The post has given rise to the misgiving that Williams and his friends- the murdered one and his accomplice in the murder- might have been substance abusers. The posts have given rise to a lot of concern regarding the personalities the teenagers assume on the net. One of Williams’ friends was left flabbergasted about his MySpace personality. She insisted that he was a “happy person” and had that they had never been able to glean any hint of his Satanist affiliations. However, the police are warning parents to take their children’s internet personalities seriously and not dismiss them as the vagaries of adolescence.

i hope somebody out there will realize and understand and appreciate the difficulty in writingabout this particular subject.so just please hear me out about this one.i can promise you its worth your time.its wrong that they are trying jae and randy as adults.they need to look into the full story because from what ive heard they are only pointing out the bad things about these boys, they were both really caring guys.if you talk totheir close friends they can tell you diffrent then what the media has been saying about them.so what if theywear black clothes? most teens nowadays do its just a phase..and randy eating an octopus leg has nothing to do withmurdeing so there was no reason to put that in the video thing.a lot of people eat seafood..it botheres me that the boys are only 15 and 16 and they are trying them as adults.they might be able to commit the same crimes an adult would but, do they understand what they did?the judges and the jury need to keep in mind that teens dont think the same way adults do.teenagers act mostly on impulse and they are designed to work that way until a certain age.what are you suppost to do at the age when your wired to make mistakes?..because thats how you learn.
they also dont think about the concenquesces, studies have found that teens brains dont workthe same way as an adults brain does.thats why they have laws that say you cant drop out of school until 16,drink at age 21 and you cant rent a car until your 25,they make these rules because they know kids under 18 havent fully developed.but in this court hearing they probably didnt think about that..or so i think.teens should not be sent to jail no matter how bad the crime.also keep in mind that most teens that are sent to jail will never come out being functional adults because they didnt get the right counseling or services.if you put teens in adult jail they are treated really bad.teens are at a part in their life where they learn from whats around them.they will learn unproductive skills.teens need to be nurtured and cared for in a facilty that is designed for them..thats exactly why they made a juvenile center for them in the first place.both jae williams and randy thomson have mental problems that makes them diffrent from any other 15 or
16 year old the jury needs to look into both their past.depression can take huge toll on someone.me having depression, skitsofrenia, bulimia also being suicidal..i can see where both teen are comeing from.people like us cant think straight we dont function like other teens.i can say i feel horrible about mike russell and
the way he died breaks my heart he wasnt suppost to go this way.i dont wanna belive that jae and randy killed mike but if they did i feel both jae and randy should be punished but not as adults.they need to learn their lesson but being punished by death is just taking it way to far then it should be.they need to be treated like the teens they are..they are only teens they are still considerd as babies in some peoples eyes.they have or had their whole life ahead of them.i belive that if they get the right help and or counseling they can be released into the public without being a threat to anyone.it hurts me so bad to see two guys i care so much about go through something like this.it just breaks my heart..people are saying that jae looks like he doesnt care but knowing him the way i do im sure he feels bad deep inside..sometimes when youve been through a lot all you can do is pretend, pretend that you dont care, because thats what society had done to most people crying or feeling bad is considered weakness in their eys.hopefully this letter get to the judge and the jury before they make their desisions on december seconed 2009.bacause if they give these kids a life sentance or a death sentance then it proves we live in a cold cruel world where people dont really care and dont take the time to tryto understand..enough said..

anonymous, they are being charged with murder, not stealing a candy bar. I hope we never meet - I find your lack of empathy for the victim truly disturbing.

i know that they did kill someone but still there is hella more peolpe out there that have done worse stuff and arent getting caught or they only get like 5 years in jail thats hella not fair and jae and randy were not thinkig when they did this i knew jae and he was caring and a nice kid he just had some problems i also knew his mom im praying for her and she definetly doesnt deserve this and niether do jae and randy the punishment is way over the top

I’m one of Mikey Russells aunts, and it really makes me sick, and breaks my heart to read things like “there are other people out-there who have done worse” or “the punishment is over the top.” To the person who wrote that…How can the punishment be over the top for a brutal murder? Did you really think about what you wrote before you wrote it. Teenagers should be allowed to get away with brutal murder because they are young, or screwed up in the head? IF that’s the case no one is safe. The pain of losing Mikey is every minute of every day. Do you get that. It never goes away, NEVER. We think about it non-stop. In many ways we feel like our lives have been ruined. Mikey’s life was stolen. And you two morons are talking about going easy on these guys because they are “sick.” Being a sociopath is a personality disorder not a mental disorder. Those two are still breating, and eating and seeing their families. Mikey is gone. 10 years from now when you have forgotten all about this, he will still be gone. We live with that every day. His cousins who are also teens, are living a nightmare. “Punishment way over the top.” I hope Randy Thompson and Jae Williams are shown THE SAME MERCY they showed Mikey. Nothing more, nothing less. Our pain never takes a vacation. You remember that at your next family meal.

I agree with his aunt..I go to the school that those boys go to (Santa teresa, san jose) and everyone was affected. my boyfriend knew jae and jae lied to our face about all that happened. he told us this sob story that he was the last one to see micheal alive and that he didnt know who did it. a bunch of BULL! i just hope that micheals family hears me out..I’m so sorry for your loss
February 21st, 2010 at 2:25 am
i also agree with his aunt because i knew randy and jae very well and when i came back to the school hurt and feeling that someone close was gone hurt so bad. what made me discusted was jae hugged me the day we went back to school and said we will find whoever did this to my best friend. that still haunts me till this day. they diserve the harsh punishment. they need to feel the pain the Mikey felt when he was murdered

I call shenanigans.
Jae didn’t practice Satanism. He practiced Wicca, I think.
If the reporters did their reading, Wicca isn’t even close to Satanism.
And well, I have a different viewpoint since I have known Jae since elementary. I do think they deserved to be punished, but I mean, this punishment seems… harsh.

i also go to Santa Teresa and have mett jae before he is a sick kid, very lost in his imaginary world.when the story broke out at our school we where all shockd.who in the world deserves to play god?
how can someone be so crule to take a human life?
Jae Williams And Randy Thompson both deserve a life sentence!
AND FOR THE PERSON WHO WROTE THAT “THEY ARE NICE PEOPLE AND CAREING” you are sick as well.
how can someone be careing if they take a life?
and i am trully sorry for Mikey Russells familly, may god be with you.

They ARE caring people. But they just made bad decisions…
March 30th, 2010 at 4:21 pm
Crystal, I don’t mean to be rude, but there is something seriously wrong with your thought process if you think that two people who brutally murdered another human being are “caring people, who just made bad decisions.” I guess I will never stopped being amazed at the people who have more sympathy for accused killers, than they do the actual victim. I understand that Randy and Jae are sick, but they are sick in a way that will never be cured. Two caring guys, who double-teamed and killed a boy who thought they were his friends. May you never be in a position where anyone’s safety depends on your judgment, cause something isn’t right with you girl. Mikey is gone forever. I hope Randy and Jae both get life sentences without parole.

It’s kind of hard to think of them badly, considering that I’ve been friends with Jay since elementary. Kind of hard for me to think of them badly.
I understand that you, Mr. Righteous, think that they should be punished. But try thinking about trying to change a viewpoint of a friend in a day. Kind of hard, isn’t it?
And don’t say something isn’t right with me. I know what I am stating and nothing will change that.
April 13th, 2010 at 4:36 pm
Crystal, you referred to me as “Mr. Righteous.” I clearly identified myself as one of Mikey Russels aunts. You’re right, I can’t imagine what it’s like to be a friend of someone accused of brutally stabbing someone to death. I can’t imagine what it’s like to think I know someone because we were childhood friends, and then this person is accused of a hideous crime. What I can imagine though, is being Mikeys aunt. Mikey is the victim, incase you didn’t know that. I live with his loss every day. I see how this is tearing up my family. I think of him every moment and have nightmares every time I go to sleep. This kid who you say is/or was your friend, killed my 15 year old nephew. But you are right, I don’t know how you feel. I don’t know what kind of friends they were to you. I don’t know your hurt. But I do know that Mikey, my nephew, is the only victim here. He was 15 and his life was cut short by your “friends.”

Jae is my boyfriend we are still together, yeah he might have done something really bad but I love him and i’ll stay with him forever. He was a loving caring guy. So was Randy. I cry every night knowing what everyone thinks about jae and how ill they talk about him. He’s my soulmate.

To Mike Russell’s aunt, I can understand how sad you must feel day to day.. it truly is sad to hear what has happened to your nephew.. I had the great privilege of knowing Mike, & hanging out with him in middle school & high school. I also knew Jae & Randy & really, I don’t feel sorry for them. seriously people, you think they are caring?! for crystal, IV’E known Jae since elementary school too! & unlike you, I knew him & hung out with him EVERY single day until he was locked up. If you THINK he was in any way “caring”, then you obviously didn’t know Jae & like every other girl Jae knew, he LIED to you & there was a dark side you never knew.. To Mike’s aunt, I’m soooooo sorry you have to put up with all this & read every1 comments. You all wana talk about having a heart & showing compassion for Jae & Randy? Why don’t you show a some compassion for the families that need & DESERVE it most, to all of Mike’s family… Mike, rest in peace..never forget you bud..

To the Aunt of the victim, every word you has said has been intelligent and reasonable, my heart goes out to you. I would not invest anymore engergy reading what stupid uneducated meth heads that are jae’s friends have to say.
March 25th, 2011 at 1:31 am
I knew jae. and he was very nice person. sometimes he would get in some trouble, but he would always say sorry. and he wouldl always tell the truth. I just think they should go easy on him. Give him 3 to 5 years. Just so he can really learn his leason and never do it again.. LOVE YOU JAE
March 25th, 2011 at 6:42 am
Jae and Randy deserve to have life in prison. Don’t try and defend a murderer. They know what they did. They deserve life. They need to feel the pain my best friend mikey felt. Relize that they are bad guys

Hello all, Today I am thinking about little Michael Russel. My son used to hang out with him when Michael was about 11 or 12 years old. I have been searching for an update as to whatever happpened to his murderers (who I also knew) Does anybody have any updates? Miss you Michael. Thank you for being my sons friend when you were here. We will never forget you.

As a teenager, i can tell you that I think very clearly, no matter how different a teens brain works, it isn’t enough to justify killing. at 15 I was fully aware that MURDER is wrong.
