Multiple casualties after shooting incident in Amsterdam
May 4th, 2011 - 11:59 pm ICT by BNO NewsAMSTERDAM (BNO NEWS) — Multiple people were injured on late Wednesday afternoon after a shooting incident in the Dutch capital, police said, giving few details.
Police said the shooting happened at around 5.30 p.m. local time at a business in Amsterdam, but provided no details on the number of casualties. It said 5 people were arrested after the incident.
“After the call, police found multiple injured people inside the building,” a police statement said, adding that the conditions of those injured were not yet available. “Several guns were also found at the scene. Police have initiated an investigation.”
The shooting happened as Amsterdam prepares for the Remembrance of the Dead, an annual event in the Netherlands to commemorate all civilians and service members who died in wars or peacekeeping missions since World War II.
