lars Stockholm, May 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Swedish cartoonist - Lars Vilks, who had outraged Muslims over his cartoon of Prophet Mohammad in which he had been depicted as a dog, has been assaulted during a university lecture on Tuesday. Angry protesters interrupted his lecture about the ‘limits of artistic freedom’ and one person who was seated in the front row ran up to him and head butted him. The attack resulted in the breaking of Lars’ glasses but he was not injured otherwise. There is no news about the fate of the attacker.

The police used pepper spray and batons to hold off an angry mob that continued to shout “Allahu Akbar” which means that ‘Allah is Great’. Lars Vilks needed to be escorted out of the lecture hall by the police to safety. This is not the first time that Mr. Vilks has suffered threats and attacks after his controversial cartoon, which depicts the Prophet Mohammad as a dog. He has received death threats many times.

US investigators had also earlier said that the murder plot involving Colleen LaRose who calls herself “Jihad Jane” was also targeted at Mr. Vilks. Police were still investigating the incident and had taken Mr. Vilks’s statement in this regard.
