Motivational speaker Johnnie Tuitel asked to de-board an US Airways plane for being ‘too disabled’
October 18th, 2010 - 9:23 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWest Palm Beach, Oct 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Motivational speaker Johnnie Tuitel felt insulted and humiliated when he was de-boarded from an US Airways flight as the authorities felt that he was ‘too disabled’ to fly all by himself. And on top of that, he was also told that he could be a grave risk to the other passengers on the plane as well.
It ought to be mentioned that Johnnie has already clocked over 500,000 miles all over the world because of his packed schedule of giving motivational talks. So no doubt, this decision of the US Airways authorities to de-board him must have come as a rude shock to him.
The flight was supposed to travel from West Palm Beach Airport, which is located in Florida. And just moments before the departure of the plane, Johnnie was asked to leave the plane. The 47-year-old motivational speaker was on his way to the Kansas City as he was to give a motivational speech at the National Self Advocacy Conference, but in view of being de-boarded from the flight, he couldn’t attend the conference.
He said that, “I was raised to believe I could grow up doing what I wanted to do and it didn’t lead me to any entitlement. By them denying me the ability to fly, I couldn’t do my job.”
