Moscow may have the tallest Ferris wheel in the world

Moscow, Nov 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Russian newspaper Kommersant has reported that the country’s officials are working to install a giant Ferris wheel in the nation’s capital. The 220 meter structure is meant to attract tourists to the former Soviet state.

Designed by the US engineering firm Gensler design bureau, the wheel is named Moscow View and it will be one of the tallest structure in the city. It is believed that the Russian government spent at least $300 million to have the structure constructed.

The Moscow government plans to improve the city in the bid to get more tourists to come visiting. The Moscow View if installed will become the tallest Farris wheel in the world. It will reach higher than the Singapore Flyer which stands at 165 meters long. China’s Star of Nanchang is 160 meters long while Britain’s London Eye stands at a length of 135 meters.

The Russian government has planned to invest as much as $4.5 billion in the city of Moscow by the year 2016. The city is currently 19th on the Euromonitor International list. The list shows the cities where tourists visit frequently.

The country plans to generate about $1.6 billion from tourism each year.
