Uranium-238 Moldova, Aug 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Authorities in Moldova have intercepted a consignment of two kilograms of Uranium-238 radioactive that authorities say could be used to make atomic bombs.

Authorities say they have arrested three people who tried to sell the radioactive material. Authorities are yet to identify the source of the radioactive material but they said the material was temporarily kept at a garage that belonged to an ex-policeman.

Police say they tracked the three people for a month before finally arresting them when they tried to sell the Uranium.

Police say the criminal gang wanted to sell the Uranium for 9 million Euros or 11 million dollars to a country the police say have ‘high risk people’. Police are still searching for seven other people who were involved in the plot.

It ought to be mentioned that Uranium-238 does not emit radiations that can be dangerous to the environment, but it can be used to make atomic bomb. It is the most common form of the uranium metal forming 99.3 percent of natural uranium available on the planet. These statistics comes from the agency that controls the use of radioactive materials in the world, International Atomic Energy Commission.
