Nov.14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The much anticipated ‘Call of duty: Modern Warfare 2′ had led to an extensive struggle between the supermarket dealers and the online retailers as an increasing number of people are trying to get hold of the video game in a number of countries. The game received an enormous opening on the day of its release with a record breaking sale of 4.7 million already being registered.
As more and more people are lining up to grab their copy of the video game, the unprecedented demand has resulted in the stocks finishing off quickly in most of the retail shops. Although earlier different retailers were providing discounts for purchasing the game, the situation has changed drastically as demand for the video game has been escalating day by day. As a result, the retailers have scrapped their discount offers and at the same time prices of the video game is also been hiked to counter the present situation.
UK retailer Makro who were initially making the games available at 20 after providing a discount of 35 on the retail price of 55 have reportedly decided to withdraw their offer as of now. At the same time, it has not been confirmed whether the retailer would stock the game again. Another retailer Sainsburys, who were selling online for a nominal rate of 26 have also supposedly run out of stocks at the moment. However, Tesco is still offering the PS3 or Xbox 360 version at the cost of 39.70 but even their offer is likely to end tomorrow.
