Moderate aftershock rattles earthquake-ravaged Chile
March 5th, 2010 - 3:03 pm ICT by BNO NewsSANTIAGO, CHILE (BNO NEWS) — A moderate aftershock rattled Chile’s earthquake-ravaged region on early Friday, seismologists said.
The 5.7-magnitude earthquake was centered about 73 miles north of the city of Talca, or 86 miles southwest of Santiago, Chile’s capital. It struck about 14.3 miles deep, making it a shallow earthquake.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties following the tremor, which happened around 12.34 a.m local time.
The region is still recovering from a devastating 8.8-magnitude earthquake last Saturday, killing hundreds of people in the quake and a resulting tsunami.
