Missing Teen’s Body Found Near A Califf Landfill
August 6th, 2010 - 7:40 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkAugust 6, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The remains of a missing teenager have been discovered from a landfill near Califf, said the authorities on Thursday.
The pregnant teenager Anyssia Katherine Escamilla, 17 went missing in May and her boyfriend was charged for her death. The body had been identified by her dental records reported a spokesperson for the County Coroner’s office in San Bernardino.
The authorities launched a search taking the aid of dogs in order to trace the teenager. They searched through two landfills before they came across the body lying in a dump in Corona.
She was reported as missing when she failed to return home from Bloomington High School on May 11. Escamilla has a 3 year old son from a previous relationship.
The police have stated that Jesus Avitia Jr, 18, the boyfriend of the missing teen admitted to killing her. He said that he had dumped the body near a trash can in the locality. The drivers of the trash trucks, however, did not report finding any such body. The trash is usually removed by robotic arms.
Avitia has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Anyssia Escamilla along with her three month old fetus. The multiple murder charge may result in a death penalty, if proved.
Avitia’s parents had been opposed to the idea of their son dating a girl who had a child. Escamilla’s parents have informed the police that the two had been dating for over a year.
The motive of the crime is yet to be deciphered and the investigators are trying to piece together how she had been killed. The accused has been giving statements which contradict each other, the police informed.
