Miss El Paso arrested for shoplifting

The 21-year-old was arrested on Friday by the police in El Paso on suspicion that she failed to pay for a $69 shirt that she picked from a shop. Lorena Tavera has denied the allegations and indicated that she is looking for a lawyer.
According to reports, the staff at a mall store realized that a shirt has gone missing shortly after Tavera left the shop. They subsequently chased and located her outside the mall. A search on her revealed the said in her bad, the report alleges. She was subsequently arrested by the police and held on suspicion of stealing.
She was released Saturday after she posted a $728 bail bond. Court records at El Paso County Jail shows that Tavera has two outstanding traffic violations. The latest incident took place on Friday night.
Tavera was crowned Miss El Paso USA 2008. She was 18 years old when she won the title and represented the city in the national contest.
A report by Fox New failed to state when the next court date of Tavera is. The report also failed to state if charges have been brought against her.
