Minneapolis, Feb 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Minneapolis woman tried to send a puppy in the mail to Atlanta.

The woman, Stacey Champion, has been arrested and subsequently charged with animal cruelty for sending the animal in the cardboard box that had no air holes on it.

Postal workers found the package suspicious after the box shook and fell off the counter. When the workers found the contents of the package on the 25th day of January, Stacey had already left the post office. When the postal workers opened the package, the animal was found inside the box.

According to the postal inspectors who found the animal, the animal was panting hard inside the box indicating that it had been struggling to breathe in the box. The animal is a four-month-old poodle mix.

The police believe the little poodle was saved by the intervention of the postal workers because the animal wouldn’t have survived the airplane’s cargo unit. The animal also had no food or water in the box.

After the rescue of the animal, it was taken to Minneapolis animal control facility.

39-year-old Stacey is scheduled for court on the charge of animal cruelty.
