Milwaukee, July 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Milwaukee airport is closed, as the runways are flooded with water. The General Mitchell International Airport has to option but to down its shutters as the torrential rains have created havoc with the runways. According to reports, more than a half a foot of rain fell in the region and as a result the runways were covered in water.

After the announcement of the closure of the General Mitchell International Airport, the airport officials asked the travelers to get in touch with their airlines so that some alternative plans could be worked out.

AirTran is one of the primary airlines in that region and after the closure of the airport, the officials devised a plan for the travelers. As per the alternative plan the airline has allowed the passengers to change their booking without any fear of fines or penalties. The hapless travelers who have to bear the brunt of the torrential rains wouldn’t have to pay any other fees for availing their booking at a later date.

However the catch is that the passenger has to avail the new booking within five days of the original traveling date.
