Turin, Feb 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It is being expected that the Shroud of Turin is going to be put up for public viewing from April 10 to May 23. It has been reported that the Shroud of Turin would manage to pull up about at least 2 to three million viewers. It is going to be put up for display by the archdiocese of Turin. According to the organizers of the event, the Shroud that is going to be put up for display has already attracted about a million reservations from all around the world, despite the fact that each viewer would be able to see it only for about three minutes, and no one would definitely be allowed to stay near the Shroud for more than five minutes.
The Shroud of Turin is an exhibit that has fascinated both historians and scientists alike for the past centuries. Some Christians believe that it was the burial Shroud of Jesus Christ himself, which explains the religious clamor to view the exhibit. However, according to many scientists, it is nothing but a tale forged in the medieval times. There have been numerous scientific tests carried out on the shroud in order to determine its approximate age, including carbon testing.
The carbon testing methods showed that the Shroud dates back to the fourteenth century, but it was concluded by the scientists that nothing could be inferred from the tests for certain, as the cloth is too old for that. This is the first time that the Pope Benedict XVI would be viewing the Shroud of Turin since he came into office. The Shroud of Turin will be kept in a climate controlled, bulletproof enclosure during the exhibition.
