nancy-kisselJan 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Nancy Kissel “Milkshake Murder” has been a mystery since 2003. She pleaded guilty in 2005, for killing her investment banker husband, by poisoning him with drug infused milk shake. That resulted in a life term sentence, but Hong Kong’s Court of Final Appeal, ordered for a retrial in last February, as the evidences used in the previous trial was not admissible, if one had to look at the proper court procedure. A new procedure of “Milkshake Murder” therefore started to delve more into the matter.

To start with, Judge Andrew Macrae dissolved the previous jury of five men and four women. Although they were selected on Tuesday morning, before the court proceedings, they were dismissed soon by the afternoon. The judge said that he will be opting for a new jury. He decided to take this decision apparently, due to the procedural flaws, that were cited by Hong Kong’s Court of Final Appeal last year. However, when the court proceedings started, Nancy Kissel once again stayed rigid to her stand and like the last time, she said that she killed her husband out of self defense. She also said that her husband Robert Kissel tried to rape her and even assaulted her with base ball bat.

However, the evidences still affirm that the way she killed her husband was not out of self defense, but it was rather well plotted. The prosecutor, David Perry said that she infused her husband with the drugs through the strawberry milk shake, landed five blows to his head with the help of a metal ornament, wrapped his body with a towel and a plastic bag and then placed it into a carpet to finally dump it in the storage. David Perry also said that she wanted to get the $18 million fortune from her husband’s death, and wanted to go abscond with her lover, who was a TV repairman.
