Military jet crashes in California’s Mojave Desert; one killed
May 22nd, 2009 - 12:36 pm ICT by admin ( Leave a comment )Mojave Desert, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) – One person was killed when a military training jet crashed in California’s Mojave Desert on Thursday afternoon, officials say.
Kern County fire crews responded to a report of smoke in the area at around 1.30 p.m local time and were expecting a brush fire, a spokesman said. On arrival, crews found a lot of debris which turned out to be a T-38 military training jet. At around the same time, the department was notified that the military had lost one of its aircraft.
Two people were on board the plane and one of them was transported to a local hospital, but his condition was not immediately available. The second person was confirmed dead on scene.
