Baltimore, Oct. 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Cincinnati Bengals defensive co-coordinator Mike Zimmer achieved a very courageous feat on Sunday, when he chose to accompany the Bengals to their game just four days after the sad and abrupt death of his wife. According to reports from various new sources, it has come to light that the coach had arrived home on Thursday night and found his wife, Vikki Zimmer, lying lifeless and unresponsive. Mike had reported the incident on Thursday night itself, following the incident. The cause for the death of the 50 year old Vikki has not been revealed as of yet.
After going through such an shocking encounter so close at hand, it can hardly be expected that the man would be in a proper state of mind to be around a ball game. Yet Mike Zimmer chose to overcome his personal tragedy with the love he has for his team. Therefore, it was an absolutely emotional moment for everyone around when the Cincinnati Bengals managed to secure the win to honor his commitment. In Sunday’s match [that was held in Baltimore], the Bengals won over the Ravens 17-14, which would have calmed down some of Zimmer’s pain.
It was in an emotional moment that the head coach Marvin Lewis awarded the ball to Zimmer while inside the team’s locker room. The Bengal players had then all ganged around Zimmer and leaped up and down. During the emotional episode, Zimmer is supposed to have told the team, “My wife loves all of you. Win or lose, she’s proud of you. And I just appreciated all of your effort.”
