Dec.03, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Michelle Obama ape picture that emerges in the Google image search engine has sparked a controversy for quite some time now. Search engine, Google has found itself amidst the controversy as it has been under pressure from many quarters to remove the picture, which surfaces whenever a user is searching for the First Lady’s picture on the internet.
Many people have termed the pictures as being racist and portraying African American as primates is considered to be highly unacceptable. As a result, the search engine has been facing a lot of heat due to the stir that the picture has created. Many have been arguing that it is the moral responsibility of the search engine to ensure that the photo is removed. At the same time, Google has been urged repeatedly to remove the offensive picture that depicts the First Lady as an ape woman, as soon as possible. However, the derogatory picture still emerges during the search, which highlights the fact that Google has still not undertaken any steps to remove it.
While reacting to the controversy, Google released a statement some time ago in which it was emphasized that the results of the search engine do not in any way reflect the opinions of the people who are part of the search engine. Although the search engine has apologized for the emergence of the offensive picture, it has also been highlighted that the search results are a result of computer algorithm. As the search results are not determined by Google itself, it cannot directly interfere with the results that surface.
