Mexican officials have asked U.S. to investigate the shooting at the border crossing, that links the Ciudad Juarez to El Paso, Texas. The shooting killed a 14 year old boy, who apparently was trying to cross the border.

The boy, Sergio Adrian Hernandez Guereca died on Monday. The incident has infuriated the government of the Mexican state of Chihuahua and they referred to it as a perfect example of xenophobia triggered by the anti-immigration laws of Arizona.

Relatives of Guereca said that he was just trying to peek into the U.S. side and was killed by the U.S. Border Patrol agents while returning to Mexico.

American officials have described the shooting as an act of self defense as according to them they face attack by rocks from the migrants who illegally try to cross the border.

This is the second incident of killing of a Mexican national by the Border Patrol agents in ten days. Anastasio Hernandez Rojas, another Mexican national died at a U.S. hospital after he was reportedly beaten by the U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Illegal immigration remains the bone of contention between Mexico and United States. Every year nearly thousands of deportations and voluntary repatriations of Mexicans are made from United States.
