Hermosillo, Jan 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Mexican drug peddlers are doing everything possible to ensure that their illegal business thrives.

In a new move, the peddlers are now catapulting drugs into the United States. The United States National Guard troops and the drug peddlers have been playing a cat-and-mouse game on the border between the United States and Mexico.

The drug traffickers have used diverse means in the past to get drugs into the United States but in a move that was not anticipated by the US officers, the traffickers hurled drugs into the US side of the border using catapults.

Mexican officers however chanced upon one of the 3-meter tall catapults on a flatbed that was being towed by a sports utility car. The officers seized the catapult which officers said was capable of launching 2kg of marijuana over the US fence at a go. The officers did not make any arrest though.

Surveillance video of the drug smugglers using the catapult were made public on Wednesday. Just as officer thought they have solved the problem, they discovered another catapult on Thursday near another border town of Agua Prieta.

Mexican officials admitted that they have not seen smugglers use this method before.
