Mexican Airliner Hijacked

Aeromexico hijack MEXICO CITY (BNO NEWS) — A Boeing 737 carrying an unknown number of passengers was hijacked by armed men after it took off from Cancun, Mexico on Wednesday morning, according to local media reports.

The plane, Aeromexico flight 576, had taken off from Cancun Airport at 11.38 a.m. local time, according to flight records. It was originally scheduled for Juarez International Airport in Mexico City, where it was due to land at 1.50 p.m. local time.

According to Mexican media, three Bolivian men are demanding to speak with President Calderon. They are said to carry a package with cables, which is said to be an explosive device.

Mexican Transport Minister Molinar told local radio that the aircraft had landed safely in the capital.
