Perugia, Oct 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Murdered British student Meredith Kercher’s family say the gruesome nature of her murder has been forgotten as the appeal trial draws to a close. After the first trial, American student Amanda Knox and two other male accomplices were found guilty of murdering Kercher. They were given a total of 76 years in prison by a court in Italy for their various roles in the murder.

With the verdict from the appeals court expected soon, the family of Kercher organized a press conference in Perugia where the hearing is taking place. The press conference was attended by the Kercher’s mother Arlene and siblings Stephanie and Lyle.

Stephanie told the reporters that, “I think Meredith has been hugely forgotten. Everyone needs to remember the brutality of what happened and everything she went through, the fear and the terror and not knowing why.”

She said that though it has been four years since the murder happened, the family has not been able to forget the incident. The family however revealed that they will be ready to accept whatever decision that the jury will reach at the end of deliberations. The deliberation is currently ongoing and it is expected to take hours for the jury to reach a verdict.

They will not be allowed to leave the courthouse until they present a verdict.
