Atlanta, Georgia, Mar 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The request made by a porn publication for the acquisition of the pictures of the decapitated body of Meredith Emerson has been turned down by a judge, who has ruled that the request made by the publication is absolutely vile and unethical. The magazine had requested that it be allowed access to the pictures of the corpse of the woman, pictures which show her body completely mutilated and nude. The verdict was announced by a Georgian Judge Daniel Coursey, of the Dekalb Superior Court, on Wednesday, Mar 10.
Judge Daniel Coursey stated that none of the pictures showing Meredith Emerson in any way other than normal, would be released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The verdict was aimed at the pictures or graphical representations of the murdered woman, showing her in a decapitated or nude state, from being released. The request had been made by the magazine, known for its pornographic content. A reporter of the magazine had asked for the photos as an open records request. However, no reason for the request had been given. The magazine had not returned the phone call placed to them either.
The verdict comes in the heels of the new legislation that the lawmakers of the state are considering voting for. The law states that the police or any authority should not be allowed public access to graphic photographs of crime victims. The law is being considered keeping in mind the adverse effects that such pictures are likely to have on the minds of the viewers. It is being expected that the legislation is going to have major impact on open requests.
