gd Dublin, Mar 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Granny D was a well-known inhabitant of New Hampshire, as she had walked the full length of the country, when she was 89 years old, has died. She died due to problems that arose from her chronic respiratory illness. Her memorial service would be held on Sunday, at 2 pm at the Dublin Community Church, according to her son Jim Haddock. She was a centurion i.e. her age was 100 years.

She walked around 3,200 miles in 2 years (1999 and 2000), because she wanted to publicize the campaign finance reform. Even though she was 89 years old, yet she was passionate enough for this cause, and walked around 10 miles a day, though all types of terrain – deserts, hills, mountains, and even places where it snowed (she skied on the snow too.) her son Jim Haddock accompanied her on her legendary journey, and it took them more than a year (14 months, to be precise) to complete the cross-country journey.

At the age of 94, she also fought an US election against the Republican candidate Judd Gregg. Even though she eventually lost to Judd Gregg, yet she gathered a lot of respect for her endeavor, and even her opponent said that she had set a good example for all the politicians.
