Meghan McCain Attacks Arizonian Immigration Law
April 28th, 2010 - 7:31 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkApril 28, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Meghan McCain is the daughter of the eminent Republican, Senator John McCain. She has disparaged the fresh immigration legislation passed by the Arizonian state. As a result of her disparagement, she has laid the foundation for a political disagreement with her father, John McCain. He is the senior senator for Arizona.
Meghan has been present at public meetings organized by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform. She has divulged that the fresh legislation is dangerously defective and is, in essence, an authorization to inflict harassment on someone for being Hispanic. She has elucidated these standpoints in a column brought out at The Daily Beast that was titled ‘Hate the Law, Not Arizonans.’
The new legislation obliges the police officials to query an individual about his or her immigration standing if there is a sound distrust that the individual may be in the nation illegitimately. It would also make it a felony under the state law to be there unlawfully. Arizona Governor, Jan Brewer, converted the legislation into law on Friday. However, some Arizona legislators have vowed to battle against the measure.
Meghan McCain inscribed in her column that she deems that the law bequeaths the state police a certificate to unjustly differentiate and also infringe the civil liberties of the Arizonian residents.
John McCain, who will have to battle against a strong Republican primary challenge this year, has referred to the law as an efficient apparatus for law enforcement. He admitted last weekend that there are some queries about whether the new law can meet head-on a judicial examination. Nonetheless, he verbalized that the Arizonian policymakers have acted out of dissatisfaction since the federal government has not dealt with this burning issue satisfactorily. This data was revealed by the Arizona Daily Star.
Similarly, Meghan McCain elucidated in her column that the Arizonian state was reacting to the national government’s inability to make safe the borders and reduce drug smuggling across the border. Nonetheless, she has vocalized that the Arizonian law does not tackle these crises. She declared that political leanings and the fiery media coverage have made it even more difficult to unearth practical solutions.
US President Obama has condemned the law by referring to it as imprudent. The mainstream media has labeled Arizona a rogue state. Meghan McCain articulated that such inappropriately impassioned characterizations will only make the defenders of the stern Arizonian law more dogmatic.
