Manila, April 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Catholic Church protested against an ad campaign by McDonalds and that has prompted the famous eatery to pull the ad off the screens. The ad featured an 8-year-old girl proposing to an 8-year-old boy to be her lover.

In the advert the boy rejected the offer from the girl saying that girls are too demanding. The boy was then enticed when the girl asked him to accompany her for some fries at McDonalds. That is what the Catholic Church in the country have a problem with.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines asked that the ad should be pulled because they do not understand why two young children should have romantic affection for each other. McDonalds accepted and pulled the ad from television. Other people also have issue with the ad because women are described as gold diggers in the ad.

McDonalds announced on Wednesday that it has pulled off the ad following the protest from the Catholic Church. In a statement that was released by the food chain, McDonalds admitted that it respects the stands taken by the Catholic Church and subsequently wouldn’t air the ad again.
