Mazda New Direct Injection Engine Coming In 2011

mazda5-3Sep 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Japan based automaker Mazda is all set to introduce a new range of eco friendly and direct-injection diesel and gasoline engines in its models that will be unveiled in the next year. Mazda will make changes to the vehicle platforms so that the new sky engines can be fitted. The first car with the new breed of engines will be released in the USA in 2011. The diesel version of sky engine will be sold in 2012. Mazda has not said which models will be upgraded with the new engine yet but all its models will be powered by the sky series by the year 2014 and 2015. The news has created a buzz in the auto industry

The concept car Shinari will have a new rotary engine that will cut down fuel consumption by almost 50 percent as the company has said. Mazda has said that it needs to improve big time in the mileage department and the new range of engines will help it to do that. Seita Kanai, the head of the research and development at Mazda said in a recent interview that the new engine has been built from the scratch to offer a nice blend of fuel economy and performance. The company will have to ensure that the new engine also adheres to the stringent emission norms prevalent in the USA and other countries in Europe.

Mazda faces a challenge in retaining the rotary design and yet reducing emission level and fuel usage. The spokeperspons of the company have refused to divulge the details on the build quality and components of the engine.
