Mayor Tom McMahon Warns Blighted Building Owners On Online “Wall Of Shame”

wallAug 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Extremely adverse, deleterious and blighted building owners were warned by the Reading Mayor Tom McMahon on a new online “Wall Of Shame”. The owners who were neglecting their properties in one eastern Pennsylvania city got this online shaming on Monday. The Mayor in his statement announced that the buildings will be torn down if the owners do not fix them up.

The Mayor Tom McMahon said that he would post the name of the owners with their respective addresses and pictures on the website for the people to see. The mayor after visiting one property said that the Government will be “ramping” up the focus on the irresponsible property owners that are bringing bad and unfortunate situation into the city neighborhood. The Mayor also added that for 2010 the Government has 60 properties and 10 of them will be called blighted properties in course of time. He warned the owners saying that if they do not look into the matter then the city officials will take necessary actions to remove the “blight” which might include tearing down the properties.

The Mayor on the “Wall Of Shame” also wrote that the owners of the “derelict” properties can run if they want to but they cannot hide from law. Moreover, he mentioned that the whole world will know who they are given their names, pictures and addresses will be posted, so he asked them not to make any mistakes as the Government is coming after them to take actions. Mayor Tom McMahon is actively campaigning to cleanup or tear down completely the properties which are considered abandoned by the city’s Blighted Property Review Committee. The Mayor is hopeful that the “Wall Of Shame” will make the land owners ashamed and they will take their responsibilities.
